Christmas 01.

Merry Christmas!

As Swedish tradition, we opened all our presents after dinner on Christmas Eve. A bit different from the American tradition. I definitely prefer the American tradition, it makes Christmas Day feel very pointless when opening all your presents on Christmas Eve. :/ Next year we might do it the American way, and then when Leia gets old enough we'll let her decide how she wants to celebrate. :)

Leia had 2 Santas show up yesterday! :)
Yesterday around 10, a Santa came to the door and let Leia have a few pieces of candy (stiff, strawberry, marshmellow candy) out of his basket. She grabbed 2 pieces and waved frantically and the Santa. :)) She very happily ate her candy. :) We are guessing it was the neighbor across the street. We have no idea who it was. :D He is brothers with our neighbor next door, who have grandchildren over for the holiday, so we are guessing he went to a few other houses to give out some candy. :) Since there are so many children on the street this year.

Then we had our 2nd Santa stop by later in the afternoon. :) This time it was dark and it was 2 Santas that rang the doorbell! One Santa had a sack, the other a lantern. Leia got a present out of the Santa's sack. :) How cool is that? :) Leia was super happy and waved, but didn't get up the nerve to say "tack" (thank you). The gift-giving Santa was Aina, our family friend. She lives in Nössemark, but she has family in Åmål, so we have a feeling she was celebrating with them yesterday and decided to stop by for Leia's sake. :) How sweet!! :) So that was lots of fun. :)

At daycare, they made ornaments! :) They put glitter on pine cones. :) Here is Leia's pine cone:

Very cute, no? :) So now we can start collecting all the things she makes at daycare. :) She also has an ornament that is a paper cut-out of a tree, with stickers on it. They also made candle holders! They used empty baby-food jars, and put glue all around the outside, and let the children roll them around in glitter. :) It is actually a very beautiful candle holder and we have it sitting on our DVD case. :)

They also gave us a few drawings Leia has done, and a CD with pictures they've taken of her up until Christmas time. :) So I will try to add a few of those as well over vacation!

Mormor and Morfar sent some chocolate santas. :) With crispies in the chocolate. Well.. we've come to learn that Leia LOVES chocolate. :D She is getting a little bite every day, but she gets very angry when we take it away. :/ :)

That is enough for now! :) I'll add more later! :)

The kids made the same Christmas ornaments while in daycare here as well...something is the same as in the U.S. I have a few of those baby jar candle holders and I don't think the pinecones have survived. They've even made Turkey's out of pinecones. Better buy a big plastic pin now for all the projects and papers. We've had to really scrutinize what we keep...way too much stuff from both of them.

HA! I guess baby-food-jar-candle-holders are a universal daycare product.. :D
